The training as a geriatric assistant nurse provides knowledge, skills, and abilities that are required for a qualified care assistant in stable care situations under the supervision of a nurse.
The full-time training for geriatric care assistant lasts one year (theory and practice) and begins on the 1st of February and the 1st of September each year.
The theoretical and practical instruction takes place according to the Old Age Nursing Act and the respective training and examination regulations and comprises at least 750 hours of instruction, the practical training covers at least 900 hours.
The practical training divides into four sections, of which two training assignments take place in institutions for inpatient care for the elderly and outpatient care services.
Financial support from the employment agency or the job centre is possible if there are appropriate conditions through an education voucher.
